JetBlue Vacations has teamed up with WeatherPromise to offer vacationers peace of mind in case their trip is ruined by excessive rain. The partnership allows travelers who book Flight + Hotel vacation packages through JetBlue to receive a refund if rainfall exceeds forecasted amounts during their trip.
WeatherPromise uses AI, satellite imagery, and weather data to provide a custom “excessive rain” forecast based on destination, trip length, and historical weather patterns. If the rainfall exceeds the forecast, customers are automatically reimbursed, but they can still enjoy their trip.
The service, which launched in 2022, helps travelers book off-peak vacations with unpredictable weather, offering protection for all trip components, including car rentals and activities. Pricing for the guarantee ranges from 3% to 8% of the total trip cost, depending on the location and duration.
For example, an 11-day December trip to Punta Cana would cost around $111 for the guarantee and provide a refund of up to $2,500 if it rains for more than three days. WeatherPromise is available months in advance, offering travelers the ability to plan with confidence even during uncertain weather seasons like hurricane season in Florida.
